We are all the same and we are all different… challenge for change.
“In my decades of professional experience, regionally, nationally, and internationally, there is a fundamental and often entrenched failure to address racial justice and anti-racism at its core due to inadequate commitment and leadership, non-recognition if not acceptance of discrimination, and systemic failure to act proactively despite well-meaning pronounced intentions.”
– Manawar Jan-Khan
How will the CRJ-SP seek change?
- Lobby for better data systems and standardised recording of race and ethnicity by public sector and other relevant agencies.
- Review suicide prevention strategies across local authorities and healthcare systems through an anti-racism lens.
- Campaign for stronger leadership on this agenda at local authority, regional (OHID), and national public health levels.
- Encourage national mental health charities and suicide prevention bodies to engage actively with anti-racism work.
- Develop and promote good practice guidance as the campaign and website evolve.
